At the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation you have the option of seeing one (or all of) the five practitioners for your musculoskeletal condition; three chiropractors (two male and one female) and two registered massage therapists round out the treatment team and if you’re headed into the stretching and self-maintenance end of your rehabilitation Stretching and Mobility classes are held on Thursdays.
Everyone affiliated with the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation takes pride in what they do for their patients and patrons, whether listening to their story, treating their injuries and forming an individualized treatment plan or simply booking their upcoming appointment; everyone and their condition matters.
Whether you choose to pursue a Chiropractic, Massage, Acupuncture, Shockwave or combined treatment approach to your injury, your practitioner(s) will discuss with you the approach they feel would best suit your condition and the recommended treatment plan for your rehabilitation. Generally, a soft tissue approach is taken to most musculoskeletal injuries at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation, as opposed to a 5-minute appointment involving a quick interview and an adjustment. Your appointments are 20, 40 or 60 minutes of hands-on treatment with your chiropractor and you can depend on him or her to be on schedule, which allows for dependable scheduling around your other extracurricular activities!
If you need rehabilitative equipment, or to set up an active office space, you are covered! Carrying everything from foam rollers to compression stockings and nutritional supplements, if it isn’t already in stock, it can be ordered or unbiased advice will be given regarding where you can get what you need at (hopefully), the best price.
If you’re booking in at the clinic to be a first time patient for chiropractic services you can expect to be in for a full hour with your doctor the first time. During this visit, your doctor will ask you questions about your health/medical history and perform a series of range of motion tests in order to develop a detailed picture of your condition and any potential contributing factors. Time-permitting, you will receive your very first soft tissue treatment during this visit. You may choose to see a male or a female practitioner for your chiropractic services.
Registered massage therapy services can take on a number of different aspects of your rehabilitation at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation. Both of the available therapists are able to perform Relaxation Massage, Therapeutic or Sports Massage, Pre or Post-Natal Massage and each of these treatments can be used to target a particular area you may specifically want worked on. These treatments can be booked for 30, 60 or 90 minutes.
New additions to the offered services at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation are Stretching and Mobility Classes. These classes are offered on Thursdays and are divided into Lower Body (10 am) and Upper Body (11:15 am and 6:30 pm). Small class sizes of no more than four or five people guarantees lots of attention from the instructor, Hayden Gladstone for potential modifications of postures for your whole hour of dedicated stretching and mobility exercises.
I already see a chiropractor, why do I still need to do a full new patient exam and intake form?
Because you have not attended treatment at our clinic before, we need to open a new file for you (this is the Alberta standard), which includes an examination and taking your medical history. Following this procedure allows your new chiropractor to better understand your condition and determine your diagnosis – you may argue that your previous chiropractor already provided you with a diagnosis; however, chances are good that you wouldn’t be seeking new chiropractic care if you weren’t also interested in a second opinion.
Will my neck be cracked?
Occasionally an individual’s condition may merit a neck adjustment, it is not the belief at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation that every single patient through the door requires this treatment. Often, when an individual believes that he/she needs an adjustment, the tissues in their neck are simply tight, restricting regular movement, and need to be manually released, not adjusted. All of that being said, if you don’t want an adjustment, you won’t get one!
Can I come in just for shockwave treatment?
Your chiropractor may use shockwave as part of your treatment, however, this treatment is not offered as a stand-alone treatment at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation. It can be added on to any 20, 40 or 60-minute chiropractic visits (as a part of the originally booked time-slot).
Are your massage therapists registered?
Both of the massage therapists at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation are eligible for coverage through most extended health plans.
Do you direct bill to insurance?
The clinic is currently set up to directly bill Alberta Blue Cross and Green Shield Canada.
