Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation – Calgary NW

Hello to all our patients,

With the direction of the Alberta Government and approval from public health, we will  be opening our clinic on Monday May 4th to chiropractic treatments only. At this time we don’t have a schedule for when we will be open for Massage Therapy and Acupuncture. We do know that Massage Therapy is in Phase 2 of the Alberta relaunch plan. We will keep you updated as to the exact date when Massage Therapy and Acupuncture are allowed to open.

The seriousness of the pandemic has made it mandatory for all health professional to assess their safe practice guidelines.  Chiropractic has been no different and we have had ongoing discussions with our provincial and federal regulatory bodies about how to come back to work in the safest means possible. Let’s briefly go over what we are doing to protect you and ourselves in light of the pandemic.

The building common areas are now being cleaned twice a day. This includes door handles, elevator buttons, bathrooms, counter surfaces and other commonly touched surfaces. These surfaces are being cleaned with Lysol and the floors are being cleaned with bleach. Every floor in the building has also had a alcohol sanitize station installed and it is mandatory that every patient sanitize when they get on/off the elevator, as well as hand-washing in the bathroom before entering the clinic. This expectation of constant hand hygiene is to be followed upon leaving your treatment and the clinic. Our clinic is being even more vigilant in its sanitation practices. Multiple times through the day our inner office commonly touched surfaces are being cleaned with a cleaner specific to killing the corona virus.

Each practitioner has been mandated to wash their hands and sanitize before and after each patient, as well as sanitize all equipment including tools and tables for the next patient interaction. All practitioners and admin staff will be wearing surgical masks and when necessary gloves. Patient are encouraged to bring their own mask and if they are immuno-compromised a mask will be provided to them. There has also been more time allotted in our day to do regular cleaning of our treatment rooms. If any patient is experiencing any symptoms of an infection that include an elevated temperature, runny nose, cough, sore throat, headache we advise you to stay at home and notify the clinic at your earliest convenience.

Seniors and immunocompromised patients will be encouraged to schedule their appointments in the morning at their earliest convenience to avoid contamination.

We understand this is a difficult time for many people and all these measures are in place to protect us as the world continues it’s fight against Covid-19.

More specific to our patient’s appointments we will be asking our patient’s to stay in their cars until right before their appointment starts. They may then come up to the clinic and will be seen shortly after that. We encourage you to pay close attention to your actual appointment time as some scheduling changes have been made. The reception has changed in that we have removed some chairs to allow appropriate social distancing. We also have a rehabilitation room which is located by the ladies bathroom when you get off the elevator (to the right). This is going to act as our secondary waiting room and after checking in with admin staff upon arrival certain patients will be asked to sit in there to effectively social distance even more.  With the summer months ahead we ask you to make sure to wear socks when attending the clinic. No one will be permitted to walk around barefoot.

I do hope that everyone has been staying safe in this highly unusual time. We are ready to get back to work and serve you with the best care possible. Thank you all for your continued support of our clinic and rest assured we are doing everything we can for us all to stay safe during this time. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

If you have any questions feel free to email us at admin@drlabelle.com or call 403-282-8989.

Warmest regards,

Dr. Robert LaBelle DC, BSc

At Calgary’s Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation you have the option of seeing one (or all of) the five practitioners for your musculoskeletal condition; three chiropractors (two male and one female) and two registered massage therapists round out the treatment team. Chiropractor NW Calgary Treatment - diagram of spine

Everyone affiliated with the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation takes pride in what they do for their patients and patrons, whether listening to their story, treating their injuries and forming an individualized treatment plan or simply booking their upcoming appointment; everyone and their condition matters.

Whether you choose to pursue Chiropractic, Massage, Acupuncture, Shockwave or a combined treatment approach to your injury, your practitioner(s) will discuss with you the approach they feel would best suit your condition and the recommended treatment plan for your rehabilitation. Generally, a soft tissue approach is taken to most musculoskeletal injuries at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation, as opposed to a 5-minute appointment involving a quick interview and an adjustment. Your appointments are 20, 40 or 60 minutes of hands-on treatment with your chiropractor and you can depend on him or her to be on schedule, which allows for dependable scheduling around your other extracurricular activities.

If you need rehabilitative equipment, or to set up an active office space, you are covered. Carrying everything from foam rollers to compression stockings and nutritional supplements, if it isn’t already in stock, it can be ordered, and unbiased advice will be given regarding where you can get what you need at (hopefully), the best price.

Chiropractic Care At Our Clinic

If you’re booking in at the clinic to be a first time patient for chiropractic services you can expect to be in for a full hour with your doctor. During this visit, your doctor will ask you questions about your health/medical history and perform a series of range of motion tests in order to develop a detailed picture of your condition and any potential contributing factors. Time-permitting, you will receive your very first soft tissue treatment during this visit. You may choose to see a male or a female practitioner for your chiropractic treatments.

Massage Therapy

CCSR-Calgary-Massage-RoomRegistered massage therapy services can take on a number of different aspects of your rehabilitation at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation. Both of the available massage therapists are able to perform Relaxation Massage, Therapeutic or Sports Massage, Pre or Post-Natal Massage and each of these treatments can be used to target a particular area you may specifically want worked on.  These treatments can be booked for 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes.

FAQ

I already see a chiropractor, why do I still need to do a full new patient exam and intake form?

Because you have not attended treatment at our clinic before, we need to open a new file for you (this is the Alberta standard), which includes an examination and taking your medical history. Following this procedure allows your new chiropractor to better understand your condition and determine your diagnosis – you may argue that your previous chiropractor already provided you with a diagnosis; however, chances are good that you wouldn’t be seeking new chiropractic care if you weren’t also interested in a second opinion.

Will my neck be cracked?

Occasionally an individual’s coCCSR-Calgaryndition may merit a neck adjustment, it is not the belief at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation that every single patient through the door requires this treatment. Often, when an individual believes that he/she needs an adjustment, the tissues in their neck are simply tight, restricting regular movement, and need to be manually released, not adjusted. All of that being said, if you don’t want an adjustment, you won’t get one.

Can I come in just for shockwave treatment?

Your chiropractor may use shockwave as part of your treatment, however, this treatment is not offered as a stand-alone treatment at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation. It can be added on to any 20, 40 or 60-minute chiropractic visits (as a part of the originally booked time-slot).

Are your massage therapists registered?

Both of the massage therapists at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation are eligible for coverage through most extended health plans.

Do you direct bill to insurance?

The clinic is currently set up to directly bill Alberta Blue Cross, Green Shield Canada, Medavie Blue Cross and Sun Life Financial.

Where do I park?

Free, 2-hour parking is available at our building; however, in the event that the lot is full, there is 1- and 2-hour street-parking available on 17th avenue NW (one block north of our building, accessible via North-bound 16th Street). Alternately, if you give yourself a few extra minutes before your appointment, often someone will be leaving the lot, allowing you a spot to park!
