Registered Massage Therapy is available at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation during the following hours:
Every second Saturday 10am-2pm
The Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation currently has 2 Registered Massage Therapists both of whom perform mainly therapeutic massage in addition to prenatal massage and relaxation massage.
These therapies can be used for a number of purposes – whether you don’t respond well to other services and therapies, you just prefer massage therapy or you may also choose to alternate between Massage Therapy and Chiropractic Treatments – everyone is entitled to their own preferences!
Massage therapy can be used in very similar ways to the soft-tissue approach that the chiropractors at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation take – to treat soft tissue and sports injuries; however, it is also beneficial to reducing stress and relieving pain.
When you book your first visit with one of our massage therapists you will be asked to arrive 10 minutes early in order to allow yourself adequate time to complete our History and Consent form prior to your scheduled appointment. Upon completion of this form, your therapist will review the information you’ve provided and ask you to elaborate on anything they feel is pertinent to your treatment. Each visit will begin with a chat with your therapist in order to determine what you want to focus on for that treatment.
Based on what areas you have indicated you want to be treated, your therapist will recommend either beginning in a face down, or face up position and she will leave the room to allow you time to change and prepare for your treatment.
Massage therapy treatments at our clinic are booked for 30, 60 or 90 minutes and are billed at $60, $95 and $125 respectively. Our office prides itself on maintaining a timely schedule, so it is important that you arrive on time in order to receive your full treatment.
Are our therapists fully licensed to perform Massage Therapy and will their treatment be covered by my extended health plan?
The short answer: Yes. Both of our massage therapists maintain good standing with their governing body (Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC)), in order to allow patients to submit their receipts for reimbursement, should they have extended health care. This means that they participate in continuing education regularly in order to expand their scope of practice and stay on top of new treatment techniques to better treat your conditions.
Your treatments with our Massage Therapists should be covered through your extended health plan if you have Massage coverage; however, it is your responsibility to check the restrictions regarding this coverage. Sometimes a prescription for massage therapy is required from your Medical Doctor each year to receive this coverage. If you have questions or need assistance to interpret your coverage, please let us know and we will be happy to help.
Do you offer direct billing?
Currently, our office is set up for direct billing to Alberta Blue Cross and Green Shield Canada (as well as SSQ Financial). That being said, our practitioners are all fully licensed, so upon payment of your bill, you will be given an official receipt which you can then submit to your other extended health coverage.
Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage technique available?
Neither of our therapists performs this technique at present. We are happy to help you find someone that can though!
My dentist recommended that I see a Massage Therapist for my Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ), pain/dysfunction, do your therapists treat this condition?
Both of our therapists are able to treat TMJ pain and dysfunction. Dependent on your personal comfort Intra-Oral treatment is available in addition to a less invasive, exterior approach.
I do not have an injury, sports or otherwise and just want to relax why would I book at a clinic for a massage?
Our therapists are very experienced in their therapeutic, soft tissue treatments but they are also more than happy to provide a relaxing massage. With our extra wide, plush massage table, cozy blanket, heating pad and soft lighting, you will forget that you’re in a doctor’s office.
What is the cancellation policy?
Our office requires at least 24 hours’ notice in order to cancel or move an appointment without penalty. You may cancel online, email our office or leave a voice message.
