Massage Therapy – Calgary NW
Registered Massage Therapy is available at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation during the following hours:
Every second Saturday 10am-2pm
At the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation there is a treatment style for everyone. Our multi-practitioner, multi-discipline approach allows for open communication regarding your musculoskeletal conditions, should you choose to indulge in each of the treatments. Having access to these different approaches helps us to give you the best care possible, and avoid missing the root of your injuries. Massage therapy can be used for many different conditions ranging from relaxation to treating musculoskeletal injuries to pregnancy-related pains.
The massage therapists at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation are both registered and have many years of experience with a variety of massage techniques and styles to offer between them including but not limited to orthopedic massage, myofascial release, active release, bamboo massage, pre- and post-natal massage and relaxation massage. Glynis Johnson and Crystal Parsons’ combined schedules allow for you to book in for your massage treatment Mondays and Wednesday through Saturday, with availability most days until 8 pm – having a busy schedule is no longer an excuse to skip out on your self-care.
You may tell yourself that you don’t need massage therapy because you receive other soft-tissue therapy such as physiotherapy or chiropractic care, but massage therapy often compliments both of these therapies, speeding along your recovery. We all tell ourselves that we will do our rehab at home; stretch, roll and exercise away our problems, but often what our bodies really need is an experienced massage therapist to target the problem areas and break down scarred tissues to begin the healing process.
At our clinic, you can expect your massage therapist to chat with you, before, after and sometimes during your massage. It is important that you keep an open communication going with your therapist to ensure that you are getting the most out of your massage. Questions you may get from your therapist are: What areas most bother you? Is the pressure okay? Did your last treatment cause any noticeable change to your condition? Please be honest with your therapist! If you just want to relax for a treatment and listen to the soft music while you receive your massage, tell them! Or if you want to chat and have a super-deep, therapeutic massage, let them know that; the more you tell your therapist about what you want to get out of your massage, the better it will be for you and for them.
If you are already a chiropractic or acupuncture patient at our clinic and choose to try massage therapy, your practitioners will communicate prior to your visits to ensure that all treatments complement one another, ensuring that you receive the most well-rounded, complete-care possible.
Massage therapy can take on many different forms depending on the condition being treated, the patient/client preferences and the therapist. At our clinic, the therapists treat a number of musculoskeletal injuries ranging from the foot, leg, glutes, neck, arm and back pain to injuries as the result of a motor vehicle accident, pregnancy pain, among others. Your massage can focus on one problem area, or be a general, full-body experience. Everyone is different, so if you aren’t comfortable dressing down for your massage, tell your practitioner and they will figure out the best way for you to be comfortable and still receive an effective, enjoyable massage.
