What is Kinstretch®?
Kinstretch is a program that was developed by Dr. Andreo Spina with the end goal of developing maximal body control, flexibility and usable range of motion.
The Kinstretch movements and training techniques were selected by physical conditioning and medical experts based on meticulous investigation of scientific evidence as the movements pertain to body control, injury prevention, joint health and physical longevity.
Unlike many other training systems, the Kinstretch practice is complete with a self-assessment system that allows you the ability to monitor your own body for dysfunction that may be causing you pain, loss of performance, or be putting you at a greater risk for injury.
All certified Kinstretch instructors are also certified in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC)® which means they are highly knowledgeable in human movement, biomechanics and body control development. That means that your Kinstretch instructor is highly trained in spotting and correcting dysfunctions in your body as you practice.
Your Kinstretch instructor knows that in order to maintain your body’s function it often needs more than one class per week. As such, part of the Kinstretch methodology is dedicated to home exercise assignment to promote joint health and longevity.
At CCSR we will be offering Beginner and Advanced Kinstretch classes. During Beginner classes the instructor will take a slower approach to the movement sequences, spending more time on explanation and giving feedback to participants. As you progress in your Kinstretch regime you will remember the sequences and more fully understand the objective of the class and as such will be able to move along at a faster pace.
To top off all of the other great rehabilitation you’re provided at the Centre for Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation, our office offers Stretching and Mobility Classes on Thursday mornings. These classes are limited to 4 people per class which allows your instructor, Hayden Gladstone, to get to know you and the conditions you have and provide you with any required modifications.
These classes are separated into a Lower Body class at 10am, and an Upper Body class at 11:15am every Thursday morning. Separating these areas allows you to focus on problem-spots and learn more stretching regimes for your condition.
If you are interested in booking your first Stretching and Mobility Class you can do so by phoning or emailing our office to express your interest. When you come in the first time we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early in order to fill out our consent form. For each class you should wear loose fitting clothing that allows free and comfortable movement and we provide yoga mats, blocks and any other materials you may need for your class.
Each regularly scheduled class is 1 hour long and is $25(If you bring a friend with you, you will receive 50% off the regular fee!); however, private classes are available for an increased fee.
What if I am not athletic?
Small class sizes mean that the instructor will be able to accommodate just about every skill level. If you are struggling, or are feeling embarrassed, please know that we all have our own strengths and weaknesses and Hayden will help you find more comfortable positions in order to gradually get you to a more advanced stretching level.
